ArcheAge: A pretty MMO your PC probably can’t run

March 2, 2010

Toward the end of February, Korean developer XLGames, the studio founded by Jake Song (of Lineage fame), announced their four-year-in-the-making MMO, ArcheAge. Set to be released later this year, the RPG is built on CryENGINE2, which means you probably won’t be able to play it unless you build yourself a supercomputer using hardware from a very distant time in the future. That won’t stop us from showing you a beautiful screenshot from the game, though. Just look at it. Pretty, ain’t it?

To check out what the game looks like in motion, you can check out its official site. It’s in Korean, so good luck trying to read what’s on there (unless, of course, you read Korean), but that shouldn’t deter you from finding the videos along the right side of the page.

CryEngine and CryEngine2 were made to run on consoles which have much less processing power than even an out-of-the-box PC. As long as you have a decent video card, you’ll be able to run anything on those engines. Aion uses CryEngine2, and these are the RECOMMENDED specs:

    Pentium Dual Core/AMD Athlon 64 X2
    2 GB RAM
    GeForce 7600/Radeon HD 2600
    Hard Drive 15GB
    DirectX 9.0c(2008,6).

Let’s try some research next time. ;)
