PlayStation Arc trademarked in Japan

March 2, 2010

With Games Developers Conference approaching on March 10, an interesting little trademark has popped up in Japanese databases.

The trademark contains the name PlayStation Arc, which has been rumored to be the name of Sony’s entrant into the motion control field with the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s own take on motion with Project Natal. In the past, Sony execs have declined the name along with others, such as PlayStation Gem, despite execs of other companies using the name in other stories.

The timing of this trademark filing falls in line with the company’s impending conference at GDC 2010, where it has been announced the house of all things PlayStation will be showing to developers and reporters alike more info on the controller since their conference at E3 last summer.
