Platinum Games reveals first Vanquish screens for PS3, 360

March 3, 2010

Sega-based developer Platinum Games, makers of Bayonetta, have broken out the first screens of their new shooter title, Vanquish, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While shooters may not be in short supply on either console, Vanquish aims to set itself apart from the rest by offering fast-paced melee combat, similar to what has been seen in Bayonetta, only with a lot more blur motion lines.

The game, formerly a PS3 exclusive, is reported to be around 80% done, with only “annoying” details such as enemy and ally A.I. programming to be completed according to Shinji Mikami in an interview by Famitsu magazine.

The title is set to release this winter, at least in Japan.

That screenshot, plus the ones up at Kotaku, look oh so sexy. At 80 percent done I’m assuming that’s an actual gameplay screenshot. If so, then wow. All I want to see now is a gameplay trailer.
