Crystal Dynamics announces new Lara Croft game, will be digital download

March 4, 2010

Confirming that the age of download-only media is slowly but surely creeping upon us, Crystal Dynamics announced their latest Tomb Raider title, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, today and said the game will be “released via digital download in 2010.”

“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics in the news release. “Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience.”

Aside from that bit of news, the logo you see above and the game’s official site, there wasn’t much else revealed by the, so we don’t know what platforms the game will be released on just yet, or if it will remain a download-only title. The game will be shown “strictly ‘behind closed doors'” at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco next week.
