[Update]Scribblenauts 2 confirmed?

March 7, 2010

According to GoNintendo, an article in the next Nintendo Power confirms a sequel to the 2009 puzzle game Scribblenauts. Here’s a list of features the issue supposedly confirms for Scribblenauts 2.

  • 10,000 more words
  • 120 new and improved levels
  • Adjectives play a big role
  • Improved controls
  • Fleshed out level editor
  • Par system removed
  • More merits
  • New hint system
  • Coming this fall

My first impression of the list get me thinking that 5th Cell is headed on the right track. By “improved controls,” I hope they mean d-pad controls for Maxwell, because using the stylus was downright annoying. The removal of the par system is a big plus. I can’t count how many times I summoned an item I thought would work a certain way, only to be disappointed it didn’t and was still charged a par point. Adjectives might make the summoning of items in this game all the more interesting as well. I wonder if “Flamethrower-wielding Ninja” will work?

The next thing I’d love to hear added is the ability to aim. I found it ridiculous that Maxwell could summon a dart gun, but was unable to aim it above or below him.

What would you like to see in Scribblenauts 2?

[Update: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed the fall 2010 sequel today in a news release. The release went into a bit of detail about how the adjectives will work. “Adjectives can change the colour, size, elements, behaviours and many other aspects of the object they are describing. Multiple adjectives can be combined together to produce incredibly creative objects,” the release said.]
