New Mass Effect 2 character to join next month

March 15, 2010

After supplying gamers with free DLC since the game’s release, Bioware has finally showed off the first paid DLC for Mass Effect 2. The DLC stars Kasumi Goto, a newly acquired squad mate. Rather, she will be when the DLC launches April 6. No price has been announced yet.

The sub-story associated with her is called “Kasumi’s Stolen Memory.” Appropriate name as the new character is a thief, the “most enigmatic in the galaxy,” according to Bioware’s Mass Effect website. Kasumi’s connection to Commander Shepherd is similar to that of other DLC squad mate Zaeed Massani. Cerberus has contracted Kasumi to work with Shepherd in the mission to save mankind. In exchange, Kasumi requires Shepherd’s help to accomplish her own goals. In this case, to infiltrate the vault of Donovan Hook, a deadly criminal.

Another peek at the Mass Effect website, under the squad mate list, shows two “classified” entries. Kasumi’s name is listed as a squad mate. So does Bioware have two additional squad mates planned to join Shepherd? We’ll have to wait and see.
