Why so serious, North Americans? Batman: AA GOTY is coming after all

March 16, 2010

Remember when we reported Europe would be getting a super-cool Game of the Year edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum that includes TriOviz technology, making the game playable in 3D on standard and HDTVs? And remember how Warner Bros. said we wouldn’t be getting this version in North America? Well, apparently, they’ve changed their minds.

According to IGN, you’ll find the TriOviz-enabled Batman in stores starting May 11 in North America. The game will feature six new challenge maps on the disc, as well as the 3D glasses you’ll need to take advantage of TriOviz. So if you haven’t played Arkham Asylum yet, May 11 might be a damn fine time to finally pick it up (spoiler: it’s amazing).

It’d be crazy of them not to release this here, though I wonder how it’ll do with the initial hype pretty much gone.

It’ll be interesting to see how good/bad TriOviz will be. The company aren’t putting up much info but I don’t see how it’ll be much different from anaglyph. It’ll likely have no colour correction so may be consigned to the sin bin of past 3D media.
However, you still get an awesome game to play underneath it so yay for that.

Totally agree. Even if TriOviz isn’t great, exploring Arkham in any kind of 3D should be a pretty cool experience… should be…
