Nintendo 3DS has force feedback, new ‘3D joystick’

March 23, 2010

With Nintendo announcing the next in-line to its portable console dynasty earlier this morning, more information about the system  is coming to light.

Japanese magazine Nikkei has disclosed that the system will feature a new 3-D joystick for the console, likely getting rid of the classic d-pad scheme and also will feature force feedback, something Nintendo has played with on the original Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime Pinball and its rumble pack.

The system will also have two large screens, measuring at four inches, which is still smaller than the DSi XL’s 4.2-inch screens, due out in the U.S. on March 28, on top of improved wireless communications speed and extended battery life.

Nikkei also speculates Nintendo is considering adding an accelerometer to the console, enabling to ve tilted by the user, much like an iPhone’s tilting features.
