Releases for the week of March 22

March 23, 2010

First-person sword fighting and stunt parachuting are the highlight features of the major games released this week.

Just Cause 2, the sequel to the skydiving-for-no-reason open world game released four years ago, is out today. The previous game received average to slightly above average reviews when it came out and this game is getting generally favorable reviews so far.

On the other end of the spectrum but also a sequel is Red Steel 2, out today. The original game didn’t do so well critically with the major outlets harping the game play. “It nails everything except gameplay control, which is absolutely and indisputably the most important factor. It’s especially unfortunate because the game’s aiming sensitivity is fine.” IGN. Hopefully the devs over at Ubisoft took that criticism and applied it as necessary.

Rounding the list of games released today:

  • How to Train Your Dragon (360, Wii, PS3, DS)
  • Rumors: The Main Building (Wii)
  • Cave Story (Wii)
  • The Cages Pro-Style Battling Practice (Wii)
  • Dawn of Heroes (DS)
  • Bakugan Battle Trainer (DS)
  • Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (DS)
  • Squishy Tank (DS)
  • Cheer We Go (DS)
  • Zhu Zhu Pets (DS)
  • The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom (PC)
  • Plain Sight (PC)
Releasing later in the week are Game Room (360 out March 24) and Majesty 2: Kingmaker (PC out March 26).
