Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions details surface

March 25, 2010

Note: This is not a screen of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

After GamePro revealed the game’s existance on their next cover, webheads everywhere wondered what they should expect from Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Well, they can stop wondering. Actually, they can keep wondering, but they can wonder a little less.

A listing at the WonderCon Web site says the game will be revealed Saturday, April 3 at the convention during an Activision-hosted panel about the game. The listing confirms the developer of the game to be Canada-based Beenox, which ported Spider-Man 3 to the PlayStation 3 and developed games like Monsters vs. Aliens and Guitar Hero: Smash Hits (I can hear your collective groans already).

The listing also mentions the game will take place in an “exciting new universe never before seen in Spider-Man video games” and feature and “two new villains.”

Now I’m groaning too. Listen here, Beenox. Spider-Man should not go to other dimensions. It’s been done in the comics and the cartoons, and it sucks. Also, the Spider-Man universe have a ton of villains. Use them. And finally, this better be your best game ever.

Why can’t Rocksteady just develop every comic book-related game from now on? Look what they’ve earned

Arkham Assylum was amazing. Having said that, every spider-man game I’ve played has been a let down, and this story line doesn’t sound too promising. Hopefully Beenox gets their stuff together and pulls it out of the park, but it seems like a long shot…

Indeed, Arkham was great. I wouldn’t say every Spidey game has been a let-down. Spider-Man 2 wasn’t too shabby, but it wasn’t good enough of a game to apply the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it rule” to, which is exactly what happened with Spider-Man 3 (which was a letdown, along with Web of Shadows). Ultimate Spider-Man was pretty kickass too. And as far as Beenox pulling it together for this… I sure hope so, but like you said, it does seem like a long shot.

    Thanks for commenting, Carlitos!
