[Update]Final Fantasy IX coming to PlayStation Network

April 3, 2010

Square Enix finally confirmed what the rest of the gaming world already knew yesterday by announcing Final Fantasy IX would be coming to the PlayStation Network. So if you hate Final Fantasy XIII because of its linearity and already downloaded and re-completed FFVII and FFVIII, you’re in luck, I guess. The news came by way of a tweetouncment by a Square Enix staffer, which you can look at if you like Japanese characters (or, even better, can read them).

Solid information about when the beloved RPG will hit PSN and what it will cost you is unavailable at the moment, but we’ll be on the lookout for you.

[Update: Joystiq pointed out this only confirms the release of FFIX on the Japanese PlayStation Network. Don’t let it get your hopes down, though. Square Enix knows theres a market for the game here in the U.S. too, so a similar announcement for a U.S. release is probably imminent.]
