Sega closes Iron Man 2 dev studios

April 6, 2010

Through all the rumblings of rumors regarding Sega Studios San Francisco, currently developing the game tie-in for Iron Man 2, Sega confirmed today that the studio is being shut down.

“Sega of America is sad to announce the closure of Sega Studios San Francisco,” confirmed a Sega rep to website IndustryGamers. “It is an immensely talented studio and we wish all the best to all of the staff in all their future endeavors. Moving forward, Sega will continue to pursue external development opportunities all over the world and will continue to grow the renowned Sega brand.”

The studio, which was comprised of some staff from Secret Level, was behind the first Iron Man title and the reboot in the Golden Axe franchise,  Golden Axe: Beast Rider. Despite the closing of the studio, Iron Man 2 is still scheduled for its May 6 release.
