Nintendo and Google create new search engine game

April 7, 2010

This one’s for the oddity bin. The House of Mario and the search engine slowly taking over the Internet have teamed up to bring to Wii owners one of the strangest games on the platform: a search engine-based party title.

Titled And-Kensaku, the title pits players against each other with the objective of guessing popular web search terms. The player with the most correct guesses wins. Google’s search engine provides the statistics for this title, and while players can play offline with some 10,000 pre-stored words and phrases, they can also go online to download additional challenges based off current Google search trends.

A few other game modes include finding which word combinations will produce the largest amount of hits and others yet will include devices such as bombs and collapsing stairs.

And-Kensaku is set to release on April 29 and has been priced at 4,990 yen, or about $52 U.S. It’s currently expected to be only available for Japan.

So, would a demo for the game be considered going to Google and arbitrarily typing in random words and see what comes up?
