Stimulus Package DLC sells 2.5 million, 1 million in first 24 hours

April 7, 2010

In the case you had any doubts, let me clear things up for you: Nothing stops Activision from making money. Nothing.

Not controversial firings. Not a lawsuit because of those controversial firings. Not even overpricing downloadable content. The proof is in the numbers, of course, and they’re quite astounding, to say the least. Modern Warfare 2‘s downloadable map pack, the Stimulus Package, has been downloaded 2.5 million times in its first week — with 1 million of those downloads coming within the first 24 hours of its release. To give you some more numbers, that means they made about $37.5 million. That’s a lot of money to the average Joe like me or you, but I guess that’s chump change for Activision, considering they’ve made more than $1 billion from Modern Warfare 2 by now.

So are you one of the 2.5 million playing the Stimulus Package maps? Let us know what you think of ’em (and if they were worth the $15) by dropping us some comments.

I bought the map pack on release day, but have yet to play them. Bad Company 2 is eating all my time right now!

I did walk through each one on my own but that hardly counts does it?

According to 2,499,999 other people, it doesn’t. :P
