Infinity Wardgate: Activision counter sues West, Zampella

April 10, 2010

Things just got… realer.

A few days after they were fired by Activision for supposed insubordination, ex-Infinity Ward execs Jason West and Vince Zampella sued Activision, claiming the mega-publisher owed them some royalties. Well, we know Activision loves money, and we also know they aren’t just about to roll over and let some insubordinate dudes wrestle millions away from them, right? That’s why they’re counter suing the pair, claiming the former studio heads met with fellow competitors (which was against their contract). The suit also claims the studio purposely held up production on future Call of Duty games to make some more dough.

The claim, filed Thursday, states West and Zampella “morphed from valued, responsible executives into insubordinate and self-serving schemers who attempted to hijack Activision’s assets for their own personal gain and whose actions threatened both the future of the Call of Duty franchise and future of Activision’s (Infinity Ward) studio.”

Did anyone else imagine West and Zampella standing in IW’s studio and shouting, “It’s morphin’ time!”?

We’ll have more on the Infinity Wardgate situation as it continues developing.
