Activison: Formation of Respawn Entertainment ‘no surprise’

April 12, 2010

No eyes widened at Activision today when ousted Infinity Ward execs Jason West and Vince Zampella announced the formation of Remedy Entertainment, their new studio, and its partnering with Activision rival EA. They were probably expecting it, considering one of the claims the publisher made in last week’s counter-filing against West and Zampella’s lawsuit was that the pair of morphin’ bastards were meeting with competitors. The mega-publisher made the following statement about the new studio and partnership:

“This agreement comes as no surprise to Activision given the myriad of improper activities detailed in the cross-complaint filed on Friday against Jason West and Vince Zampella,” Activision said. “We look forward to continuing to work with Infinity Ward’s deep bench of proven talent on exciting new projects.”

As IndustryGamers, and probably anyone else following this train wreck, thought: that deep bench might head toward free agency now that Respawn has opened shop.

Thoughts, anyone?
