Infinity Wardgate: Staff departures rise to 11

April 15, 2010

Didn’t see that coming.

The count was at nine yesterday in the morning/early afternoon, but it rose to 11 shortly thereafter. Kotaku is reporting two more key staff members from Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward have parted ways with the studio. This time it’s two artists — lead animator Mark Grigsby and lead character animator Paul Messerly. Both gentlemen’s LinkedIn profiles show April 2010 as the date they ended their relationship with the studio.

Fans may know Grigsby as the dude who rapped over the original Modern Warfare’s ending credits.

As Kotaku points out, that’s a total of 13 people off the Infinity Ward roster since March 1st (including the firing of Jason West and Vince Zampella).

And yes, I’m just as tired of writing about the implosion of the studio just as much as you’re tired of reading about it.

This is almost like watching the countdown of women Tiger Woods 9-ironed stepping up.
