Confirmed: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Bionic Commando ReARMED 2 in development

April 18, 2010

Word coming out from Captivate, as the embargos begin to fall, is that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Bionic Commando ReARMED 2 are both well in development. While not much was revealed about Bionic Commando, a bulk of details spilled about Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

For starters, the game will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime late this year to early 2011, with no plans so far for any other system. The fighting system will stick to a 2-Dimensional aspect, but not in a familiar sense. Planet Xbox360 says the game is like a cross of Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

On top of this, the roster is has plenty of returning characters from the previous game, including Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto and Storm from the Marvel side, as well as some others. The development team behind the game said that they “will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes on the disc.”

Wait, repeat that last part?

That’s right. The game will be shipping to stores on a disc instead of being a download-only affair, meaning the roster could even dwarf MvC2‘s gargantuan roster — and that’s still not including the inevitable downloadable characters.

An official announcement is expected within the week, including videos and pictures. We’ll keep you posted when it breaks.
