Bayer unveils blood glucose monitor…for the Nintendo DS?

April 28, 2010

The folks over at Bayer have developed a new way for kids with diabetes to monitor their blood glucose levels, with their Nintendo DS.

The Bayer Didget, is a BG monitor that connects directly to the cartridge port and allows kids to play a game and unlock stuff based on their results.

“Bayer’s DIDGET meter links play with purpose for children with diabetes by tapping into kids’ existing passion for handheld gaming. The DIDGET meter positively reinforces consistent blood glucose testing habits by awarding points that kids can use to unlock new game levels and customize their gaming experience,” said Bayer in the company’s presser.

The problem? It’s only compatible with the DS and the DS Lite and not the DSi, the DS XL, or even the upcoming 3DS. So if you think this one is for you…keep that old DS handy.
