Final Fantasy IX confirmed for North American PSN

May 7, 2010

A while back, we reported that Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy IX would be headed to the PlayStation Network (thanks in part to the success of FFVII and FFVIII on Sony’s online network). But at the time, it was only for Japan. I eased your panic by telling you Square Enix wouldn’t do such a thing to us North Americans, and now, I can rub it in your face that I was right.

Square Enix announced the classic RPG is headed to the North American PlayStation Store today. The news came via the official PlayStation blog, on which the RPG maker/publisher’s vice president of marketing, Ami Blaire, said announcement information, including a release date, would be “coming soon.”

Commence excited, girly screaming.

We’ll let you know once a release date is set in stone.
