LittleBigPlanet 2 details surface

May 8, 2010

Thanks to the good ol’ folks of Game Informer and NeoGAF we have some info about Media Molecules sequel to one of 2008’s biggest hits, LittleBigPlanet.

While the first game was essentially a platformer with a level editor, letting players make their own sack-worlds, the next game will be, well, every videogame genre imaginable. The level editor will allow players to make platformers, real-time strategy games, first person shooters, racers and role-playing games. Supposedly, a Command and Conquer clone has already been made in LBP2. You’ll also reportedly be able to customize the way your Sackboys and Sackgirls move, like making your Sackboy jump just like Mario if you’re making a Mario-themed level.

Further improvements reportedly include:

  • An improved vehicle creation system that allows players to add a “Direct Control Seat” to any object. Players would also be able to customize the controls for utilizing the vehicles .
  • The ability to record and use your own sound effects, make your own cut scenes, tie levels together and customize your game’s heads up display (HUD).
  • Sackbots: Programmable AIs that can be placed in your levels as enemies.

That sounds pretty amazing. I kind of want it now, so I can finally realize my dream of becoming a game designer without having to learn a lick of code. Anyone else excited for LittleBigPlanet 2? Let us know what you think by dropping us some comments!
