Nimbus 64: An on the go Nintendo 64

May 8, 2010

Ben Heck followers sure do get creative.

Check out cndowning’s latest contraption: the Nimbus 64, a portable Nintendo 64 made with (aside from the N64 itself, of course) a custom vacuum formed case, a Gamecube controller’s d-pad and joysticks,   a Superpad Plus and the Zenith PSone display monitor. Pretty darn nifty, if you ask me. While it may not be as portable as say, any gaming system that’s meant to be portable, what other system allows for playing of Ocarina of Time or Perfect Dark on the go?

But the console modder isn’t satisfied with the Nimbus just yet — he still wants to add more to the device, like an A/V out switch, a controller port and a dual headphone jack. Yikes.

Like I said, pretty darn nifty, eh?

Hey thanks Jon for the review! Yeah it was a lot of fun to make, and yeah, the next one will be smaller, but it’s pretty comfortable as it is. Glad you took the time to make up your own review! Thanks again!

No need to thank me, Chris. It’s what we do! The Nimbus looks really nice. Congrats on completing it, and thanks for reading our (short) post on it. Keep us in touch with what you’re working on!
