Activision drops celebrities from Guitar Hero 6

May 16, 2010

Celebrities won’t be in as playable characters anymore in the next installment of Guitar Hero, according to Activision in this month’s Game Informer.

The decision likely stemmed from the lawsuit members of the band No Doubt filed against the company, claiming a breach of contract where the band agreed to allow their likenesses to be used in songs the band performed, but Activision allowed the characters to be used in other songs.

Other artists, such as Bon Jovi and Coutney Love (on behalf of Nirvana’s late front man Kurt Cobain), spoke out against the practice as well.
