Google’s logo celebrates Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary

May 22, 2010

Pac-Man turned 30 years old today, and Google, apparently, thinks it’s special. The company that (supposedly) does no evil usually changes up the logo on their home page to coincide with special days throughout the year, and they may just have topped every other one of their special logo redesigns… ever. If you visit their home page right now, you’ll experience a fully-playable, special version of everyone’s favorite arcade game starring the incomplete yellow pie. But as you most likely guessed already (by cleverly glancing at the image above), Pac-Man must now suck up as many pac-dots as he can while traveling around a blockified Google logo. He’ll get some extra help avoiding ghosts in this version too: There’s an extra power pellet inside the letter G, which Pac-Man can digest as well, aside the from usual four power pellets located near the corners of the level.

Now, excuse me; I’m trying to become the Billy Mitchell of Google Pac-Man over here. Let us know what your high scores are!
